"THAT QUEER BLIND SILENCE" PRODUCTION IS CANCELED,
PLAY WILL UNDERGO FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

NEW YORK, July 29 -- Underground International Voices of Theatre and The O'Neill Film and Theatrical Foundation announced today that "That Queer Blind Silence" by Sophia Romma, directed by John Beshaw-Farrell, which was scheduled to premiere at 13th Street Repertory Theater August 5 to 23, 2015, has been canceled. The producers decided that the play, a work of staccato verse to be performed in the style of Russian Expressionism, would profit by further development before opening for its world premiere run.

The production had also been set back by the loss of a principal cast member who had to leave the production due to a personal emergency.

The play is a phantasmagorical political farce depicting the ordeals of a fictional figure skater during the harassment and violence against gays that accompanied the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
